7-13 April 2018
Day 1-4 : Gora /Hakone
Day 4-6 : Nikko
Day 7-8 : Asakusa, Tokyo
Day 1
Flew via Scoot
from Singapore to Tokyo.
Reached Tokyo
around 11am and took the Narita Airport Express to Shinjuku Station.
When we arrived
at Hakone-Yomoto, we need to the take Hakone
Tozan Train to Gora. This
is the only mountain railway in Japan. The train departs from Hakone-Yumoto
station (at 96 m above sea level) and takes about 40 minutes to arrive at the
final stop, Gora station (at 541 m above sea level).
Halfway up the line there
are switchbacks, where the driver and the conductor change shifts and the train
switch to reversed travel direction. It is a special experience that can be enjoyed
only with the Hakone Tozan Train.
